Mr. Shahzad Khan

Shehzad khan is attached with YES Network Pakistan as a focal person of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. He has done M.B.A in finance with distinction in 2009 from Institute of Management Studies, University of Peshawar and B.B.A (Hons) in finance from the same University. He has two years of Banking experience is and currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Management Sciences, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan for the last two years and six months. He is an active faculty member in the University and is coordinator of B.B.A program, founder and head of the Social Entrepreneurship Society and member of the University Proctorial Board. Besides, he is responsible for establishing links with other organizations and industries. He has also planned and organized various business plan competitions and worked vigorously for the promotion of entrepreneurship in Mardan region.

Mr. Muhammad Ali Hamza

M. A. Hamza; a soul with acumen and agility is equipped with total 10 years of working experience with public, private, profit and non-profit organization in the domain of management, training, teaching and media. Currently he is serving in the Department of Management Sciences as a Lecturer at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. He is also attached with YES Network Pakistan as a focal person of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. He is playing a very important role in spreading out the concept of Youth Social Entrepreneurship among the youth. M. A. Hamza holds M.S degree in Human Resource Management and is enrolled in PhD program.  As a public speaker, he delivers talks on diverse topic such as Operative Communication, Theatrics in teaching, Motivation for mitigation of concerns, leading the scenario, etc. He believes that living for others, justify living.  

Dr. M. Tayyeb Javed

Dr. M. Tayyeb Javed is the founding Head of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). He graduated in B.Sc. (Engineering) Chemical Engineering from the University of Punjab, Lahore. He did his M.Sc. (Engineering) from the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad and Ph.D in Engineering from the PIEAS, Islamabad. Dr. Tayyeb is leading the British Council, Islamabad projects related to coal research and knowledge exchange under the International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education (INSPIRE), Developing Institutional Strategy for Knowledge Exchange (DISKE) and Strategic Partnership Extension: Knowledge Exchange (SPEKE) at PIEAS. Dr. Tayyeb is the focal person at the PIEAS for the Youth Enterprise Generator Program in collaboration with the YES Network Pakistan. Dr. Tayyeb is the founder of the PIEAS Entrepreneurship Network and the advisor of the Society for Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Leadership at PIEAS. He aims at exploiting the best aspects of the students’ learning experience and enhances the quality of research and education.

Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad Pirzada

Mr. Pirzada holds Master’s degree in Economics. He has experience as a teacher, researcher and development professional. The areas of experience include teaching Mathematics and Statistics for Economists, Research Methodology, Macroeconomics and Development Economics. Research and development experience includes full time job and consultancies with multi-disciplinary teams for different national and international organizations (IFPRI, JICA, MMP, SDSC, SAZDA, ACE, DRMS, SEMIOTICS, OXFAM, Federal Ministry for Health, UNICEF, SAFWCO, MRDO, DevFound, Bhandar, Pirbhat and SUVRD) in the fields of Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology, Community Development, Capacity Building, proposal development and Monitoring & Evaluation. Currently he is working as Assistant professor of Economics in the University of Sindh Jamshoro. Mr. Pirzada is the focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator established by YES Network Pakistan in University of Sindh Jamshoro. Mr. Pirzada wants to work for the betterment of the youth. He believes that our youth have the potential and capabilities. They just need direction and proper assistance from their elders.

Muhammad Shahid Iqbal

Muhammad Shahid Iqbal is working as an Assistant Professor of economics in COMSATS Islamabad. He is also enrolled in Ph.D program in COMSATS Islamabad. He has provided his services as a lecturer in different leading institutes and universities. He is expert in the field of Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship.  He is a member of Pakistan Society of Development Economists (PSDE) and Human Resource Development Network (HRDN). Mr. Shahid is also a focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator, established by YES Network Pakistan in COMSATS Islamabad. He believes that our youth have a lot of potentials and hidden qualities but   they do not have any idea that how to use these potentials. So, being an ambassador of Social Entrepreneurship he wants to unleash the potentials of youth and also want to use their potentials for the development of the society.  

Mr. Waheed A. Qureshi

Mr. Waheed A. Qureshi is focal person for Youth Enterprise Generator at the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. He has done his Masters in Political Science from the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Mr. Qureshi has ability to organize social events in the University. He has provided his assistance in the establishment of an International Resource Centre (IRC) at the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the British Council. Being young and energetic member of the society, he represented the youth at various national and international forums. He has also participated in the 5^th World Youth Congress held in Istanbul Turkey in 2010. Being an ambassador of Youth Enterprise Generator at University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, he wants to create opportunities for the youth of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and engage them in problem solving activities.

Mr. Syed Ali Akbar Rizvi

Ali Rizvi is a focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator project of YES Network Pakistan at IBA Sukkur. He is a person with full of commitment. He wants to work for youth of Sindh in the field of Youth Social Entrepreneurship. He believes that youth Social Entrepreneurship is an emerging field and can provide solutions for many problems like unemployment, terrorism, poverty, etc. He wants to involve youth in such activities so that they become self-reliant and contributing member of the society. He has advised and supported entrepreneurs, companies and nonprofit organizations in developing their business models, financial plans and organizational structures. He is involved with different business schools in Youth Mentoring and Entrepreneurship curriculum development. Ali Rizvi has recently initiated the task of establishing a Center for entrepreneurial Leadership at Sukkur IBA, one of the premier business schools in Pakistan, ranked No. 4 by Higher Education Council. Previously he was a faculty member at Sukkur IBA and has been acting as a visiting faculty member at several business Schools in Pakistan. He also consults for IT and Marketing projects and has experience of working in several business environments including United States, Dubai (UAE) and Pakistan.  He obtained his Bs.B.A with a Double Major in Information Systems and Marketing from Drake University in the United States.  

Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar

Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar is a Community Development training specialist, social mobilizer and Education Extension expert by profession. He possess 15 years of experience in Agricultural Education, Research, Extension, Distance, Continuing and Life-long Education and Participatory Community Development Programmer with special focus on extension for rural community development, social development NGOs and community development, socio-economic research, teaching/training, administration, project planning and management, effective coordination with stakeholders and natural resource management. He posses versatile experience in conducting trainings, rapid appraisal, social assessments, field surveys, seminars, workshops and conferences for development. Mr. Kumbhar is involved in designing and developing curriculum and training materials for capacity building village organizations, small farmers and project staff. He is also organizing training programs, conducting demonstrations and imparting education to the small farmers through Farmers Field School (FFS). He has worked as Assistant Professor and Researcher in Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. He was involved in imparting education in the field of agricultural, rural and community development. He is also working as focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator project of YES Network Pakistan at the Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. He thinks that through Entrepreneurship we can not only bring a tremendous change in the field of Agriculture but also in different fields because it provides opportunities to youth to explore new ways of development.  

Mr. Faisal Shahzad

Mr. Faisal is a man of commitment and courage. He thinks that Pakistani youth is facing many problems in spite of talent, energies and capacities. These problems can be addressed by providing them opportunities to explore their abilities and use them in a right direction. He is a Focal person of YES Network Pakistan in Islamia College Peshawar. He is a Coordinator in Shariah and Law Department and is also a President of Teaching Staff Association of Islamia College Peshawar University. He was the only candidate selected from KPK to participate in a State Department U.S.A International Visitor Leadership program on the theme “Legal Education for 21^st Century.”  Before joining Islamia College Peshawar University, he remained District Coordinator for District Swabi in 2007-2008 and also remained at District Bar swabi as an advocate for 2 years. He did his  LL.B from Faculty of Law, University of Peshawar and Masters in Political Science in 2006 from University of Peshawar. Presently he is enrolled as a research scholar in LL.M at the Khyber Law College, University of Peshawar.

Dr. Ansir Ali Rajput

Dr. Ansir Ali Rajput is a focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator project of YES Network Pakistan at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University.  He holds Ph.D in Entrepreneurship and graduation in Management from Babson College, U.S.A (ranked no. 1 in MBA Entrepreneurship) and graduation in Engineering from Suny Buffalo, U.S.A. He started working as Director Marketing for System Research and then switched to academics and took the position of Program Coordinator, Hamdard University, Islamabad Campus. Later on, he joined Mohammad Ali Jinnah University as Program Manager and has been promoted to the position of Head of Department and Associate Professor. Currently, he is serving as a Associated Dean Corporate linkages. Dr. Rajput has consulted for local and international organizations in the area of Marketing, Enterprise Development, Social Entrepreneurship, International Business,   Strategy and Innovation.  Dr. Rajput has been teaching and coaching on Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship for over 15 year and has been invited to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Italy, India, Northern Cyprus, Netherlands, Turkey, Sri Lanka, U.K and U.S.A to offer his services as a mentor, coach, trainer and advisor to development sector, academia and non- profit organizations. Dr. Rajput is an experienced corporate leader, consultant and trainer with multicultural experiences and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.

Mr. Abdul Ghafar

Mr. Abdul Ghafar is working as a Deputy Coordinator Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) at Institute of Management Sciences. He is also a focal person of Youth Enterprise Generator project of YES Network Pakistan at Institute of Management Sciences. He wants to work for the youth of KPK because they are facing a lot of problems related to terrorism, corruption, unemployment, etc. He believes that if we convert their attentions towards good positive social change and use them for the betterment of the society, then we can face all the challenges of our society and can convert them into opportunities. He worked in Government Post Graduate College Swabi as a Lecturer and served leading banks and PSO national company of oil in Pakistan. He also assisted Dr. Ying Hong Chen at the University of Skovde, Sweden.

The South Asia Center is now accepting applications for Engaging Young Leaders of Pakistan forum. The application and instructions are attached in .pdf  and .docx. Please forward widely!  We are seeking young, dynamic men and women from across Pakistan who have *not* previously traveled to the US or Europe. The Engaging Young Leaders of Pakistan project aims to identify, cultivate, and support young people in Pakistan, ages 18-30 that have the potential of becoming future leaders in their country by providing them with resources and opportunities to strengthen their engagement within civil society.

This program will build a forum of engagement and collaboration for young leaders from Pakistan to discuss and make an impact on issues such as democracy and Islam, economic development, employment, and governance, with the goal of supporting the next generation of leadership in the country. The in-person forum will involve bringing approximately 15 young leaders from Pakistan to come to the United States for a 10-day visit with policymakers, student groups, community leaders, diaspora communities, and regional experts. An online forum will be built to facilitate sustainable idea exchange among participants and with the broader community in Pakistan, the region, and the world.

Applicant Requirements:

•  Between 18 and 30 years of age
• A citizen of Pakistan, currently residing in Pakistan
• Willingness and ability to travel to the United States
• Ability to communicate (written and oral) in English
• No previous travel to the United States or Europe

This project is supported in part by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Hashoo Group in Pakistan.

British Council’s Enterprise Challenge engages young people in competitions that develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Each National winning teams has produced a short video of their enterprising idea so you can vote for your favourite video and help your chosen team become the British Council’s Global Enterprise Champions. A random voter from each participating country  (Bangladesh, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Pakistan, South Africa, Turkey, Uzbekistan) and the UK will have a chance to win an I-Pod.

Teams of young people in participating countries are asked to develop a business idea from a set scenario which they present to a panel of judges which includes employers, entrepreneurs and Ministerial representatives. Teams compete with other national teams to become the National winners.

National winners are then asked to produce a short video which represents their entry to Global Skills for Employability Enterprise Challenge. This year participating countries include Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The theme of their presentation is “If the Olympic / Paralympic Games were to take place in your country, what business would you develop?”

The ceremonies were attended by several hundred people including faculty members, students and head of the institutions. Each ceremony was attended by over 250 people. During the ceremonies, representatives of British Council and YES Network Pakistan spoke to the audience and highlighted the need of incorporating social entrepreneurship course into the curriculum of higher education. The ceremonies were steered by the trained faculty members and students of these universities. During the ceremonies, case studies and ideas for social change given by young people were shared with the audience with the view to inspire them to join this new initiative. The heads of all the three institutions highly appreciated the efforts of British Council and YES Network Pakistan for launching Youth Social Enterprise Generator project in their University/Institute.

Launching Ceremony in Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam

Each workshop focuses on clarifying the concept of youth social entrepreneurship and on generating interest for the integration of social entrepreneurship into the curriculum of the technical and educational institutions. Several interesting exercises were conducted to identify gaps in the existing education system and to explore new ways of empowering and engaging young people. During one of the exercises, when faculty members of technical and educational institutions were asked to visualize where do they see young people of their institutions after three years. Majority of them wrote that they would be seriously struggling to find a place and job in the society. They would be more frustrated due to our inability to prepare them for smooth transition to work. It was very interesting to note that an overwhelming majority of the participants had no knowledge about the concept of social entrepreneurship. The orientation sessions encouraged innovative and creative thinking among participants. The workshop provided essential technical knowledge, tools, opportunities and resources to the participants to further explore the topic of social entrepreneurship and to take solid steps in rolling out youth social entrepreneurship education in their respective institutions.
