Known nationally and internationally as the first Youth Service organization in Pakistan, Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan has been at the forefront to pioneer and advance innovative youth service programs in the country to assist disadvantaged young people to transform themselves from victims to social entrepreneurs. YES Network Pakistan is affiliated with International Association for National Youth Service and has strong ties with leading service oriented organizations in the world.
YES Network Pakistan has played a pioneer role in introducing and promoting youth service and youth social entrepreneurship programs for in-school and out-of-school young people. YES Network Pakistan holds a unique position in the country as it is the only organization in the country at the moment which is providing service learning opportunities to both educated and less educated as well as socially-excluded youth especially those who are living in low-income communities in an organized and systematic manner. As a respected youth serving organization, it is committed to excellence in both developing new youth engagement programs and building partnerships with public and private organizations for the institutionalization of youth service policies and programs in the country. Our model has been acknowledged and featured at several major international platforms such as ILO, Global Philanthropy Forum, Mc Gill University (Canada), Concordia University (Canada), Massachusetts Information Technology University in Boston (U.S.A), International Youth Employment Summit in Mexico, Waldzell Meeting in Austria, Arab Reform Forum in Egypt, Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Kansas City, USA, International Conference on “Communities in Action: People and Practice” in Manchester UK, etc as the most promising and pro-active strategy for youth development and meeting the high service needs of the society.
YES Network Pakistan has pioneered the concept of treating disadvantaged youth living in low-income communities “as a solution, not as a problem” in the country. We work directly and indirectly with young people. Directly, we provide seed financing and incubation services to poor youth for the establishment of community based micro social enterprises. Indirectly, we train and engage stakeholders such principals, senior teachers, NGOs representatives in developing and implementing youth-led service projects. Our youth service programs have assisted several thousand youth especially in-school- and out-of-school disadvantaged and socially-excluded young people in transforming themselves from dependants to service providers. Ashoka Innovators for the Public, a global organization that pioneered the field of social entrepreneurship has recognized our Youth engagement program as a profound idea with society-changing potential. We have received several international awards and appreciation from world renowned leaders and think tanks like former U.S.A President, Bill Clinton, former Malaysian Prime Minister, Muhathir Muhammad, Late Ms Benazir Bhutto etc. We have been working with various local, national and international organizations in the country.
YES Network Pakistan strives to create a society where all young people particularly disadvantaged and at-risk young people are valued without any discrimination as the most promising resource available to meet personal and societal needs. Founded in 2002, Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan is a legally registered non-profit organization. It is operating in major provinces of Pakistan including Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. It has the honor of working with leading national and international organizations. The board members of YES Network Pakistan are highly experienced and qualified professionals. They are working with leading national and international organizations such as UNDP, UNICEF, National Commission for Human Development, University of the Punjab and Family Planning Association of Pakistan. We have a highly qualified staff, who between them have over 100 years of experience of planning, implementing and evaluating social development programs.
In addition to that, YES Network Pakistan has an extensive network of contacts in the youth service sector, including many professionals who have pioneered the concept of youth service in many countries. Mr. Donald Eberly who served as the Executive Director of National Service Secretariat USA for nearly three decades, i.e; from 1966 until 1994 is the advisor of YES Network Pakistan. The President of YES Network Pakistan, Mr. Ali Raza Khan is the elected member of the International Association for National Youth Service. In addition to that, YES Network Pakistan is actively promoting the concept of youth service at regional and global levels. YES Network Pakistan is at the moment working in close collaboration with Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP), a Washington DC-based non-profit organization to promote youth service and civic engagement in the South Asia.
Regarding financial management system, YES Network follows Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Accounting Standards. Special consideration is given to strong internal controls including segregation of duties, authorization and approval of transactions. All financial transactions are duly authorized, verified and approved with supporting documents and then recorded in an Accounting Software which has the ability to generate Financial as well as Management Reports. At the end of every fiscal year financial statements are audited by external auditors.
